OTAKI FIRE BRIGADE.
The question of putting tho Otaki Fire Brigade on a better footing was discussed at lasl night's meeting of the Borough Council, when it was agreed that finances would not allow of much improvement at the present time. When reviewing finances, however, the bri-
gade would bo kept in view. Cr. Cockrcll said the present engine, which
was in perfect order should sell at £75. A letter from the Fire Brigade gave a list of what was required to put the brigade 011 a reasonable working footing, together with cost. This was as follows; —500 ft. hose £6O Ss -id. two hydrants £l6, one union £2 17s (id, four branches £lO 12s Od, couplings £lO 10s, reel £2O, total £126 8s 4d. Several of the articles, totalling £D7, were required at once to allow the Brigade to j practice. I
