HALF-HOLIDAY IN OTAKI.
WEDNESDAY FAVORED. ) The question of fixing the half-hoii-i day for Otaki was discussed at last , night’s meeting of the Borough Coun- , cil, when it was pointed out that a pc- ■ tition for an alteration, if deemed ne- , cessary,' would have to be put in by next meeting. The Mayor considered that Saturday wa-s not altogether suitable, while Cr. Bills said it was immaterial to him which day was fixed. He, however, considered the residents preferred Saturday as a day for shopping, and undertook to sec that the neccssa 1 y petition was lodged by next meeting. jpjwtbw
