VALEDICTORY
At the Ottiki Club last night Mr I “Andy” Lees, late proprietor of the ; Jubilee Hotel, and Mr It. J. F. (‘Bob’) Aldrich, organiser in Otuki for the j National Provincial Association of Licensed Victuallers, were given an enthusiastic send-off. His Worship the 1 Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon) occupied the chair and spoke in great praise of the two gentlemen, stating Mr Lees | laid endeared himself to the citizens of | Otuki. while Mr Aldrich, as an organis- | m, had proved himself the right man 1 for such a position. Air .fames Dykes, mi behalf of Mr “Bob” Cann, proprietor of flic Jubilee Hotel, also spoke regarding the guests of the evening, and his remarks regarding (he qualifications of Air Lees and Air Aldrich were -coming from such a comedian gicet-i-d with hearty laughter. Air Lees replied to the point in his usual witty manner, but Air Aldrieli seemed to be oa the “sorry side,” stating that he was sorry to leave “Sunny Otaki” and kind friends. He had made mate' friends during his stay, and although he had travelled the world he had never been so warmly received as in Otaki. lie regretted that he was to leave such friends, but it would always be a pleasure to look back to the many pleasant evenings spent here. He thanked all for assistance given him during the recent campaign, and m conclusion extended his heartiest thanks to those who had provided such n ' convivial evening* “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow” followed. Air “Bob” Caun proposed the health 0 f His Worship (Air Brandon), which was suitably responded to. and a v( O’ pleasant .evening was "concluded. During the evening' light refre: hments were served.
