I The annual ‘‘breaking up” ceremony and presentation ol prizes took place at the school grounds on Friday allerj noun in the presence of tt large number lof patents and friends. Kev. G. F. Peine, on behalf of the chairman of the school committee (Air Bills) a«iI dressed the scholars, first of ait calling .for cheers for Air Bills, who had been ' chairman of the committee for so many years. He congratulated the pupils on the good work of the year as evidenced by the line array of prizes. His congratulations also included the hcadi master and stuff lor whom more cheers weie called and heartily given. lie then proceeded with the distribution " of prizes and certificates, after which - the headmaster (ALr AY. Burns .Smith) • and Air Bills each addressed a tew l words to the assemblage, concluding 5 with cheers for the prize-winners and -‘ Air Petrie. Air Smith and Air Rudkin ' were made recipients of presentations 1 bv the boys of ’their respective classes. Afternoon tea was passed round among the grown ups by a willing staff of 1 helpers under Airs Bills’ guidance, ttud -, the children were regaled with the usual picnic tea on the grass. The rest
of the afternoon was passed in games and distribution of sweets among the kiddies. The committee's tlmnks are due to all those who contributed towards the prize fund, also to .Miss Thorpe for her help with the cooking and to Messrs Twist <k Co., who supplied abundance of cordials -for the children.
