MONTHLY MEETING. Tire regular meeting of Hie Horowhenua Power Board was keid ou Tuesday, and was attended by Messrs O. A. Muuk (ciiauiuuii/, A. Mttckay, -v. A. Brown, w. Barber, C. Kilsby, D. \V. Mnlheson, F. I). Wbibley and \V. li. Gunning. CORRESPONDENCE. Mr \V. I{. Blow, New Zealand Goverrtiiiem Agcul in Sydney, reported re calling tenders lor hardwood required :>,-, Uie Board, Ihe expenses of his office in connexion with same being £1 13/. Received, the secretary stating he had written thanking Mr Blow tor his work on the Board's behalf. The State Advances Office slated liiai authority had been given prescribing Ihe term for which £BO,OOO of the reticulation loan of 6260,000 may be borrowed. A term of 20 years had been agreed to.—Received. The Manawatu County Council agreed to the Board.erecting poles in lhat districl provided the position of the poles were approved by the County Engineer.—Received. The Otaki Borough Council' offered a road transit vehicle tor sale suitable for converting into a motor lorry for carrying materia], etc.—Referred to Engineer to deal with" as lie thought fit.
The Public Works Department notified thai the Board's license had been forwarded to the Governor-General for signature, and as soon as Ibis Was received the license would be gazetted. —Received, the Chairman slating that Ihc Engineer should be congratulated in pushing Ihe mailer through to its present* stage.

Mr M. ('.. Varnham, Levin, wrote oflering hi.- services as architect or inspector of works should the Board require such an officer. Oil the chairman's suggestion Ihe application was referred to the Engineer Cor consideration in Ihe event of there being an opening for such an officer. An application for the position of motor driver was also referred to ihe Engineer. The secretary was authorised to call a special meeting when intimation vms received of the issue of'ttie license, the meeting to fit. in with the next ordinary meeting if possible. HE-ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN 7 . At II a.m. the First annual meeting was held for the. re-election of chairman tor the ensuing year. The clerk (Mr P. \V. Goldsmith) presided and invited nominations. Mr Mackay proposed that Mr .Monk he re-elecled. He had shown great interest in the Board since its forma: (ion, and had done fine work as its first chairman. The nomination was seconded by Mr Mnthoson, who said that besides Ihe interest he had shown in the Board, Mr Monk had shown great consideration for the public. Ho thought, the public, fully realised this. Mr Malheson also referred to the highly satisfactory way in which the Board.'s business had proceeded, but it was necessary to see that the Department pushed the work and kept it up to date.
! Messrs. Wbibley. Barber, Kilsby, I Cunning also supported the motion, Which was carried unanimously. Mr Monk was declared re-elected amidst applause. He said he did not [ think any man should take up a posi- [ tion unless he was prepared to put '■ his whole soul into it. He thanked \ the Board for its unanimous support I at all times, and felt proud at this f latest instance of its confidence. ■_ OTHER BUSINESS. Mr A. A. Brown said it had been int tended to secure land in differ?':! * places in the Board's district. Had J anything been done yet? The Chairman said Mr Overton had I been away, but would no doubt reI port ai next meeting. j Mr Overton stated thai he would be I able to do so. I Replying to another question. Mr Overton said he expected the poles to j begin to come forward in January, in i quantities of about 500 a month. I Mr W. Barber: What about a motor lorry? li is about time we were getting one. j The Engineer said he would Call j tenders for motor equipment.. A inoI tor and trailer would be necessary', j Mr Barber: Where will the Engineer j start with the lines? Mr Overton: From Shannon to Fox- . lon and Shannon to Levin. The route is already pegged out. Mr Barber asked if the cost petpole had been worked out on the puri chases made as a result of the Engii neesJs visit to Australia. -| i Mr Overton: About £2 per pole. Mr Barber: Very good.
