( The Executive Council of the Ameri- i tan Federation of Labour has issued on address to the American people, calling upon all members of the federation and other citizens to demand of their Senators and Congressmen that the Volstead Act be amended, says “The New York Times Current History." It declared that its investigations had shown that there had been: — 1. A general disregard of the lav: among all classes of people, including those who made the law. ■J. Creation of thousands of moonshiners in both country and cite. 3. The creation of an army of bootleggers. -1. An amazing increase m the frame in poisons and deadly concoctions and drugs. ,\ An increased late of insanity, blindness and crime among the users of these concoctions and drugs0. Increase in taxes to city, State ana national Governments amounting to approximately 1,000,000,000 t o lars a year.
