MONTHLY MEETING. Tlie ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at Wellington yesterday. Present: Crs. 11. 1). Atkinson (chairman), A. 1. Mackav. A. R. Edwards, J. Whiteman, \V. 1. Limhrick, and H. Folov.
Correspondence. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: From G. C. Griffiths (ranger) reporting that owing to his activities the roads were now fairly free of stock.— Received. , From Department Lands and Survey advising that it was prepared to recommend the sub-division of LSimray’ (Wainui-o-mata Riding).-—Received. From N.Z. Railways relative to the level crossing at Paraparaumu and slating a search would be made re position of road.—Received. From Minister of Lands, advising that the expenditure on lire brigade material for Paekakariki out of loan moneys was now validated.—Received with thanks. _ From Makara County Council forwarding report of contributing local bodies conference in regard to the proposed increase of health inspection fce“. —Received. From Hutt Valley Electric Power Board asking what would be the County’s requirements of current for street lighting, etc. —Referred to Engineer. From L. Lawson, asking that Rau- ! mati Road be widened.—Being attend- : ed to. From G. F. Pearce, making application for lease of gravel reserve at ilorokiwi. —Decided to ask him to make: an offer.

Air J. G. Maclean was appointed manager of the Paraparaumu cemetery. Inspector’s Report. The Inspector (Air Cudby) reported that the southern end of Pahaulanui to Plimmertou road hud been repaired, while the main west road between Puekakuriki and Paraparaumu was still under repair, also Ngarura west road. An inspection had been made of the bridge at Akatarawa (13ft. .-pan) and found unsafe, and he recommended a concrete arch culvert be put in.— Adopted. Finance Committee’s Report. "We beg to report that, a meeting of the Finance Committee of this Council wa- held in the County Chamber-, Wellington. on the Sth November, when the following matters were considered and the Committee respectfully submit for your consideration the following recommendation-: — Accounts. —That accounts as per schedule amounting to £llOO 4s be passed for payment. Tender.- ''Day’s Bay Drainage).— That the tender trom Mr E. E. Simp--on, Eastbourne, for £551 0* 2d. be accepted: that Air Morrow be appointed clerk of the works for the above contract. Hint County Council v. AVhiteman Bros. —That the County’s solicitor? be instructed to join the .-solicitor General as defendant, and as set out in the solicitor’s letter to the Council. Council Claim v. J. Campbell. Plimmerton. —That Air Campbell be allowed to remove spoil from the road bank provided the work is done to the satisfaction of the Inspector and that the Council's claim of £1 -4? be enforced.
