MAIL ORDER BRIDES.
A NOVEL “CARGO” UNLOADED AT NEW YORK. Abeut 200 prospective brides who liad done their courtship by correspondence arrived al New Yorlc recently on the steamship Constantinople, of the National Greek line, and alter hours of clamorous search and identification by the horde of bridegrooms who met the ship, quite a number of young women re m a ined uncla imod. Fully 100 impetuous bridegrooms (says the New York correspondent of the Central News) went, down the bay in motor-boats 10 catch the earliest possible glimpse of the wives they had ordered by mail. They escorted the Constantinople to the pier, yelling queries and greetings. Most of the brides seemed to lie named Mary, for when that name was shouted from a motorboat. so many young women rushed to the rail as almost to cause the vessel to list. The pier was n scene Of great confusion as bridegrooms rushed frantically about, photograph in hand, peering | into the dark and eager face of each of the brilliantly clad young women they encountered. When all the bridegrooms had left the pier fifteen disconsolate young women remained.
