The annual report read as follows:
“In presenting our third annual report we desire to congratulate the members on the "work done during the past season, which on account of the extra meeting to greet the South African visitors, gave our members a busy time. The Springbok meeting, although run at a loss, subsequently made up by the meetings held in larger centres —like Wanganui and New Plymouth. Instead of trophies, gold and silver medals to the value of £lO were awarded at this meeting. The medals seemed to meet with universal approval. The visitors woro hospitably entertained by Club supporters to whom our hearty thanks ! are due. On account of the iinancial depression, for this meeting, and that held on New Year's Day, the Club refrained from appealing to the public for funds to purchase trophies as was our usual custom. This year we are optimistic enough to believe that <jur appeal will meet with a ready response. As the championship cup was won outright on New Year’s Day by Mr G. B. j Anderson, of Wellington, the Club is | now without this necessary points I prize. The success of the Children’s Day was marred by the absence of the Waikanae school. To avoid any
future trouble nil scliools have already been supplied with programmes with definite instructions printed ou the back. To broader the competition Te Horo school has been invited to compete this year, and the programme has been considerably lengthened. This meeting is a very important one, as it is from this source that we derive our future champions, and it behoves all members to do their utmost to help the junior competition. Some successful evening meetings were held last season, but this year a definite schedule of meetings will be drawn up, so that competitors will know exactly what is in store for them. Mr E. Brazier has ( kindly presented the Club with a cup for a points prize for the evening meetings. This should encourage keen competition, bring out the youngest members, and attract a larger of
the publie. The addition of the picket fence on the domain ground has done much, to facilitate the smooth working of all forms of sport on the domain. This was a big undertaking done entirely by voluntary labour. A tender has been lot for the painting and although tho work has been delayed, arrangements have been made to commence the painting this week. Many dray loads of soil were carted on to the domain for levelling purposes, and in order to further improve the track a heavy concrete roller has been purchased, and rolling operations of the ground will proceed when the state of the ground permits, We wish to convey to the manv willing helpers at sports meetings our hearty thanks for their kind consideration and help, for it is to these men and women who come forwar that, in a large measure, the successful working of our meetings is due. 've have also to thank those officers who by donations have helped the club financially, the football club, who made a special donation to the cost of roller, the Domain Board for the use of the domain, which has been granted to us at all times on request, and those who liave from time to time entertained concert parties from Wellington and Otaki, parties which have helped to keep our balance on the right side of the ledger, the said balance being £33 14s 2d,”
