During the w&: an important discovery was made in England, and experiments carried on since amply bear out the results. It was ascertained that by obtaining seed from potatoes grown in Scotland and planting these in the English midland and southern counties, the «rop was increased from 50 to 100 per cent. Similar results accrued to sowing English grown seed in Scotland, and the experiment was also successful with English seed sent to Austria for the relief of the starving pepple.
