"MOTOR HOGS."

NO CONSIDERATION TOR ROADS OR BRIDGES. Reporting to the Horowhenua County • Council on Saturday on the heavy motor traffic on County roads, the engineer (Mr stated: I would like to mention an instance of the treatment our bridges receive from some motor drivers, or I should say motor hogs, at present travelling daily on thecounty roads. While trying to make repairs to the Waitohu bridge after i the motor smash there recently, 1 hail . occasion to signal to a lorry driver j from l'almerston North to stop before ' ' coming on to the bridge, but my signals were ignored. He came across and it was only by the greatest good luck that the bridge did not carry away under him. Had it not been for the like of 1 these men who show no consideration for anything or anyone but themselves, ' the bridge could have been kepi open j for light traffic until the timber nr-i rived for the new structure. The more \ considerate users of the road and particularly our own ratepayers have now to suffer for the acts of certain lorry drivers who are not lit to be iu charge of any vehicle."
