GOLF.
The tie between Miss Swabey ami F. S. S'uncox and Mrs Sharp and Podevin, in the mixed foursomes, was played oft last week and resulted in a win for the former couple. The following are the best scores in the ladies eclectic competition:—Mb" Brandon 83-12-71, Miss Booth 92-19-73, Mrs Sharp UR-10-77. Miss Brandon has therefore won the beautiful bo* 1 presented to the Club for a prize in the event by Mrs St. George.
George Gray has been playing in great form recently. Driving front the third tee (" Westward Ho"), he wajust short of the direction pole, and playing a long low ball from thcro he lav about 10 feet from the hole and sunk his putt, thus playing a 500 yard hole in three. The Committee has decided to makf the following alterations in the links, and the work is to be put in hand at once: "Century" i* to be cut out and '' Dreadnought '' played from above "Whanake" green; a new green is to be made almost due north from the "Westward Ho" green, and the spoon played from there. These two holes will be each about 250 yards long. Th" tees are also to 1" put further buck in KOmu of the other holes, and the rourne ■■• ill thus be lengthened by »*< »0° vards.
