GOLF.
Dr. Jamieson, a leading Blackburn practitioner, is championing the cause of municipal golf. He has advocated ''this health-giving exercise” in the rauucil chamber, and urged that every municipality in the land ought to fosr this sport if only for the benefit of public health. ‘‘There is no pastime more calculated to increase health and vigour,” he said, ‘‘and I am afraid its civilities are too little appreciated. Goa. brings into play all the organs of iiiv body. It is neither the fad of the ri 'h or the pleasure of the old, but is o:JU U for .ill alike. ’ ’ He agreed that tiie charges of modern golf clubs made golf exclusive in character, but there teas a duty on the part of the municipality to cater for its workmen, who were as much entitled to benefit by the game as any other section of the community.
