TE HORO FOOTBALL CLUB.
WIND-UP DANCE. The above dance, which was held on Wednesday night, proved very successful. The hall was beautifully decorated. and the supper arrangements, which were carried out by Mrs Cottle acid helpers, were everything that could be desired, whilst the music, by Mr D. Nicholls, was first-class. The Horowhcliua Rugby Union was represented by Mr W. Thomson (chairman) Mr L. S. Carmichael (secretary), Messrs W. Bcvan and Percy.
Mr Davidson (President of the Club) thanked the public for tho support they had given the Club during the past seasou, and stated that for a first-year Club they had finished up with a good credit balance. On behalf of the Club he thanked Mrs Muir, who had contributed a trophy for the most improved player in the 3rd grade team, Mr Lees for contributing two medals for the junior team, Mr Guy for the use of football ground during the season, and Mrs Day for an entertainment in aid of the Club. Mr Davidson concluded by introducing Mr Thomson (amid ap-
plause). . Air Thomson stated that the Union | officials, who had been doing every I thing in their power for the interest of Rugby, had met with a lot of. abuse. I This year the Management Committee . had a very bad spin, mostly caused through the Shannon fracas and the betting case. They had started tho season with a deficit, and had finished up with a balance of over £SO, while Air Carmichael (secretary) had given a lot of his time to the Union’s affairs. Air Thomson spoke at some length with regard to the proposed amalgamation scheme. The proposals, received from Palmerston N., were of the best, but there was nothing definite. A committee had drawn up amendments, and if 1 accepted the amalgamation would do a lot of good for football in this dis- . triet. and also give players a chance to get into big football. Air Thomson then presented the cup to the captain of the third grade team ; and said that for a team that had not played footj ball before they had put up a splendid record, having won seven games, drawn I one. and lost one, and that they had . been well coached and had played the game. He also paid tribute to Air Davidson, who had forwarded a cheque, which had been added to by the Union, 1 in order to buy the cup. L. AlcDonald was then presented with | a trophy for the most improved player in the third grade team, whilst W. Larsen received the medal for the best i forward in the junior team, and R. I Wells the medal for the best back. I Air Thomson paid a high tribute to I the management of two clubs, namely | Manakau and Te Horo, which, he stated, had given the Union the least trouble of any other teams in the Horowhenua district.
