TO BP, RECOGNISED BY LEVIN ELECTORS. The re-arrangement of tlie electoral boundaries on this const has bad the effect ol' cutting out the town of Levin from the Otaki electorate, and severing, politically, Mr \y. H. field's connection with litis portion of the district, alter representing it in Parliament for many years. The Levin electors, however, do not intend that Mr Pic Id's services shall go unrecognised. and it meeting convened by the Mayor was field on Wednesday evening with this end ill view.
The meeting was an enthusiastic one. and the Mayor stated that he made no apology for calling it, as regret lias been expressed on till hands when it became known that Levin had been cut off from Mr field's electorate. In fact, a requisition had been largely signed and forwarded to the Boundaries Commission asking that l.cvin be left in the otaki electorate on account of the excellent work Mr field had done. However, this could not he granted, and the meeting had been railed so that public recognition would lie given to Mr field's services. other speakers spoke in the same strain, ami said it was those in touch with local public bodies who actually knew the keen interest Mr field had taken at till times in the district’s welfare. It was unanimously decided to lender Mr field ;i complimentary banquet in Levin on Monthly, October 2, to which the Prime Minister, members of Ute Cabinet, and Parliamentary representatives will he invited. A rommiltee consisting of the Mayor, anil Messrs. .1. McLCavey, H. J. Billiards. It. S. Mackenzie, T. Hobson. F t; Hoc and Dr. Clow was appointed in make the necessary arrangements. Tickets are to be issued immediately, and will he obtainable from any member of the committee.
