MANAKAU.
A most successful .social gathering was held in the Manakau Methodist Church last night, when a large congregation assembled to farewell Mr and Mrs Meharry and family. Air Aleliarry, after 4} years as manager of the Dairy Factory at Manakau. goes on Thursday to take up his new work as manager at Riverbank, Woodville. After an opening hymn and prayer the following items were given:—-Organ solo, Airs Horn; solo, Mr Hunter; recitation. Aliss Nancy Andrew; solo. Airs L. Atkin; reading, Riyv. R. P. Keall; solo. Aliss Robinson. Numerous encores were also well rendered. Refreshments were provided by the ladies in tasteful
array. Ou behalf of the Ladies’ Guild and members of the congregation, an afternoon tea set wjis presented by the chairman, Rev. R. P. Keall, to Air and Airs Meharry as a token of esteem and remembrance. Alention wjts briefly made of the useful work of Airs Aleharry at the organ and as member and secretary of the Ladies’ Guild and of the willingness of Air Meharry also in rendering valued assistance. Mr L. Atkins spoke also on behalf of the townsfolk and proposed a vote of thanks to the ladies and those contributing the programme.
