New Zealand, but as the greatest phase will occur about sunset, it will be possible to observe only the first portion of the eclipse. The circumstances of the eclipse are as under: — Eclipse begins 3.42 p.m. Greatest phase 3.43 p.m. Sunset 5.54 p.m. The magnitude of the eclipse is 0.63, that is to say. about two-thirds of the sun’s diameter will be obscured at sunset.
