COMPETITIONS. In the Limerick competition for September -Ist (entries closing on the 19th) it is t.. be understood thai the Limerick must be original and have some local application. The above is open to all. I The following have consented to act las judges tit the competitions in the Otaki Theatre on Thursday next:—Recitations, Mr Byron Brown; drawing, Mr W. If. Wills. 8.A.; singing. Mis Stahlc; [.laying. Mrs Moseley. A.T.C.L. land Mrs Wills; spelling, Mr A. R. Rudkin: limericks. Mr Wills; essays. Rev. 0. F. IVtrie. M.A.. and Mr A. If. Rudkin. The recitations, drawing, and spelling ; will be .iiid-ed in the afternoon at the close of s<d I. The recalls for recitations will be heard in the evening. Those entering for the essay competi--011 their pallets, but en a -lip el paper which is to be pinned on to the essay. Children entering tor the drawing competition should bring pencils with them, paper will be provided. In addition to the senior and junior clashes there will also be special prizes for the little tots entering for any of ihe competitions. The competitions in Ihe evening will commence at 7 p.m. sharp, so tiiat they may not be too late in finishing. Door- open al H.Sn p.m. KnHies close on Tuesday evening.
