Till it lay in the green, l knew. Ami my heart was tilled with gladness, Tor i felt that JL could now play, Ami pictured myself as the winner Of a champion cup some day. ■so jL walked to the green in triumph, i aas sure, with u little care. One stroke of the putter would hole , i- ! Ml, alas! juj ball s-u.- then'. * i Aud J. .-rought, but i .--.'light it vainly, I The one la-t ball ul mine a Tili the wintry day unavailing. A lid the moon bega n to shine. k Aud I gave my caddie sixpence. And he searched from green lu green. Bui the ball I drove so grandly.
