Constable H. Cole, who hao been 3"ting as relieving constable at Otaki, returned to Palmerston Xorth morninji. His place will be filled by Constable A. Drydone. During Constable (..'ole's stay in Otaki he has proved a mos.t conscientious officer find leave' behind many friends. There is at present a deal of .-icknes.in the district. Miss Maudie wno ha« beec seriously for some time, is now steadily progressing. Airs "W. Baker is still in hospital, but hopes to leave th& institution to-morrow, while Mrs A. L. Moore ha- left for Auckland for health reasons. All who recall tho brilliant little elocutionist, Miss. Pauline Brown, of Wellington, who, as a schoolgirl a few vears ago. literally "scooped" al honours ir. the Christcnoreh competition? On one occasion, will be interested to know that she will be married en Thur.--day to Mr Frederick Burgess, of Napier, vrbo. during the war, served in the ;>aw for four years.
