Knox. Cr. Whyte was given leave of absence. Sir .lames Wilson, chairman of the Palnierston Hospital Board, wrote in I reference to the increased cost of main- ' tenauee of the hospital, and suggested that the Council should support the I Board in its advocacy of increasing ■ the Government subsidy from 1-, l> to a flat rate of £1 for £l, It was decided to support Sir James Wilson in having an alteration made • in the lines suggested. The Agricultural Department notiiieil Hiai Japanese wiueberry had been declared a noxious weed.—Received. Mr \i. B. McGill, Koputaroa, informed the Council that he was banking the county drain and wanted lo know if permission could be granted to butt the bank on to the incline narrowing § up to the county drain bridge.—He I ferred to' Cr. piece of erosion on the Rahui Road. The Pahiko drains were now being cleaned out. He asked that the grader be put over Blair's Road. Cr. Bryant stated that, ihe roads in his end of the riding were in splendid order, and there was nothing to report. In reply to Cr. Knox, the Engineer said that considerable difficulty was being experienced in bringing in the water race at Te Horo, and deeper levels had to be gone to than was anticipated. . However, that difficulty was being got. over now, and the work was goin; on satisfactorily.
