At a meeting’ of the Otuki Borough Council this morning a letter was received from Father Vi baud asking that a public holiday be declared oh the afternoon of August 30lh, and authority to enfoice a charge at the domain, tho occasion being a visit of the Golden Bay (Nelson) ball team. Crs. Bills and Cockrell objected to Wednesday being declared a half-holi-day as ii interfered u ith arrangements already made by bu>iness people. Cl*. Cockrell said the Union had allowed ahe rep. match to keep Otaki quiet, and thought that a .Saturday match should haj.'c boon given instead. Cr.
