WAIKAWA BRIDGE.
To the Editor. •'fir.- —In reply to a letter signed “Ratepayer” that appeared in your valuable paper i would like to endorse seme. Tlie tVaikawn bridge in its present condition is a disgrace to any ■ ouncil having control of same. J am one of those unfortunates that have to pass daily over this rattle-trap and pay rates for risking my life in doing so. With plenty of good sand and gravel available, cement down in price, and the cry of unemployed, surely it is , about time something was done to this bridge. X noticed some time ago a tin scraper with four horses attached and two men attending to same, scratching . dust from the side of the road and depositing it in the centre, only to be blown back again, simply wasting time and money. To-day J noticed another good waste taking place, carting gravel ami making a pile oil the side of the road, only to be picked up again —double handling instead of putting direct where required. 1 think it is about time we had a change.—l a:u. etc..
