Somo good fish wero obtained in the lower waters of the Otaki fiver, and oh the wholo tho river has improved. The Ohau again, went dry in the summer and, consequently, a largo number of fish were lost. The JVaikamie again, as in past years, has supplied plenty of sport. The limit was taken during the last days of the season. Ducks are plentiful this year, but owing to the Ist May being very fine no very large bags were shot. Bags reported were: Three.guns, 57; three guns, 53; two guns, 20; four guns, two days, 102. Hares are fairly numerous, but quail are getting scarce. Pheasants, where protected, are increasing, and several have been bagged in outlying districts. Deer Stalking.—Several good heads were shot at Mungahao, one 11-pointer, cue 13-pointer, both very fine heads. How that the Society is obtaining revenue from native, as well as imported game, this committee thinks that some of the money thus secured should be spent in more ranging and trying to protect the little game that is left, particularly along the coast,
