FOOTBALL.

Iho Horowhcn-ua Rugby Union, by a very narrow majority, has wisely decided to decentralise representative matches, inis is a wise decision and we believe in the best interests of the winter pastime. A rep. game in each centre stimulates interest in club matches and affords players an opportunity of witnessing' the fiber points of the game by leading exponents. It als® affords the local public a chance of witnessing iuterprovincial matches. To select the most central spot for such games in a widely scattered district is manifestly unfair. The principal objeetiosi to decentralisation was on the question of finance. We do not think the union will suffer any financial loss by adopting the resolution. Now that ihe point has been settled, parochial jealousy should be allowed to drop.— Herald.

The All Blacks beat Wairarapa on Vv ednosday by 12-11, the former scoring the winning points during the last two minutes of the game.

Considerable interest is being taken in the matches to be played between Horowhenua and Muuawatu to-morrow. The senior game should be a good clean contest, while the junior game should also be worth seeing. The local team

will probably be much lighter than Manawatu, but if the backs throw the ball about they should give a good exhibition of their attacking powers. MEETING OF UNION. The weekly meeting last Tuesday tv as presided over by the president, Mr U ,1. Nash. Mr s. Norgrove.
