A PAEKAKARIKI CASE.
When searched -after arrest on a charge of drunkeness, Thomas Henry Moody and George Henry Babage were found in possession of two new pairs of boots. On Friday, William Kidd, storekeeper, of Pahautauui, identified the boots as his property, and said that the men had been in his shop 011 that date. The boots were valued at £2 10s. Both men hud denied all knowledge of the matter. Babage, said Mr McNamara, had a previous conviction tor druiikeness against him. Nothing was known against the other man. “Oh well. Moody hasn’t been up for any dishonesty since 191-1.” said the bench. “I’ll give them the chance of a fine. Five pounds each or a month. ”
