VALEDICTORY.
♦ PRESENTATIONS TO SISTER LEWIS. A very pleasant gathering took place at the Otaki Convent on Thursday morning, when the Sisters and children gathered to say farewell to Sister Lowis, who shortly leaves for England. An address was read by Miss Rene Dwyer, after which Sister Lewis was presented ■with a purse of money, and several beautiful bouquets. The Rev. Father Melu made a flue speech, and after Sister Lewis had responded asked that the children be given a half-holdiday. Songs, drill items, dances, etc., were given for the Sistur's benefit, all of which were fully appreciated. All regretted her departure and wished her the best luck. At Tuinui, where the meeting-house was gaily decorated. Natives congregated in full force. Speeches were delivered by Mr and Mrs Arekatera and Mrs Moa. who rcgrctted'tkat the Natives were to lose such a valuable friend —one who had spared neither time nor trouble in attending to their wants. Presentations of Maori kits, etc., were then made, and after Sister Lewis had suitably responded songs of farewell were rendered. Mr Takarei Eohiku acted as interpreter.
