COUNTY COUNCIL FAVOURABLE TO

PROPOSAL

The Levin Borough Council wrote the Horowhemia County Council in reference to the proposal for the erection oX municipal offices, now under consideration by the Borough Council, and o<i the suggestion thai office accommodation for other local hodies centred in the town he provided at the same time. The Council therefore asked for a rough outline ol the ollice accommodation required oy die County Council in event of the proposal being gone on with. the chairman said the question was mooted by the Borough Council, which was proposing to build offices to accommodate the Borough Council, County Council and the Power Board it was a good thing, he thought, tor the borough to take the matter up, and the Council should consider taking a suite ol oliices it the terms were reasonable. At present the County Council' was inadequately housed, and the engineer only hud a "pantry" in which to cany on his work. The County Council, he thought, might lavourably consider the matter. j

Cr. McLeavey suggested that the requirements of the county be submitted to the Borough Council, and then the rent could be iixed later.

The chairman: We want a public office, clerk's office, an engineer's office, and the use of the board room. lie moved that the chairman and th-; County Clerk be authorised to submit to the borough the probable requirements of the County Council. This was carried.
