4_ SATURDAY'S RESULTS. WANDERERS v. OLD BOVS. One of the linest exhibitions of football. spoiled only by rough play at times, was witnessed at Otaki on Saturday when th# Levin "Wanderers ami Old Boys met. The visitors, owing to a break-down, arrived late and the game was not started till 3.30. consequently finished in semi-darkness. From the kick-off the pace was hot and Levin pressed, but tine defensive play prevented them from scoring. Onslaught after onslaught was made, but the Old Boys were equal to each occasion and all played splendidly. Then came an unrehearsed inc'dent. Holder (Levin) deliberately punching Rhodes in the face. Evidently the incident was not seen, otherwise J lie offender would have received punishment. Following this came a penalty, and the referee was in a quandary whether to give a free kick or serum. The former was eventually given and Jacob kicked a line goal almost from the side line. He repeated the performance also from a penalty, a little later, li—o. From this to the end of the spell play was even, both sides making few mistakes. Occasional passing rushes were witnessed and in these players handled the ball well. The honurs, however, | were with Levin. I The second spell brought forth good i play, but the Old Boys showed improveI meat, and time and again beat their opponents in scrum work. OLD BOYS (JUNIORS) v. lIUI MAX This match took place at .Maniikau. when the visitors secured a well-deserv-ed win by 10—3. The game was open and fast, but in scrumwork the home team was superior. The score consisted of two tries and potted goal by 0. Enoka to a try. For the visitors Mclntyre. Ferguson, and King (backs) ueic most reliable, while Gray and Wintorbun) (forwards) were the pick. Mr Ross Webby ably controlled the game, giving every satisfaction. OLD BOYS (THIRDS) v. TE HORO. This game was played at Otaki and resulted in a win for the Te Horo lads, 18 —0. Although the scores were onesided the game was a good one. the local boys putting up a game light. Te Horo, however, played with better combination. handled the ball nicely, and knew what to do at critical periods. .Mr Sloan gave satisfaction as referee. OTAKI (JUNIORS) v. Tc HORO. The Otaki junior, journeyed to Tc Horo but put up a fair fight only-, while the local boys played splendidly, win ning by a try to nil. An unfortunate incident occurred during the game. Subritaky marked under Te Horo’a goal, kicked a goal, but the referee, after consideration, disallowed it and ordered a scrum. Mr Turn eke Wehipeiliana refereed. Foxton beat Hui Alai, 6—o; Shannon defaulted in Weraroa; while Weraroa juniors beat Rovers, 3—o. , The Paraparaumu juniors beat Kuku at Paraparaumu by 12—0 after a good : game.
