THE NEW RULE. Rule 12, sub-section C which has beet, amended, will be brought, into operation in next Saturday’s matches. The rule now reads as follows: “When the ball pitches into touch from a kick, other than a penalty kick, from beyond twenty-five yards of the kicker’s goal line, the opposite side shall bring it out at a spot opposite the spot where the kicker was when ne kicked the ball.” A painful accident occurred to a Maori named Poto McGregor on Saturday evening. Riding towards Levin from Foxton he was overtaken Tv a motor-car with flaring headlights. Immediately after it' had passed, in the darkness accentuated by the dashing of the light, he was struck by a gig going in the opposite direction. A shaft struck him in the groin, and the sufferer's injuries are somewhat severe. He was carried ‘On to Levin for medical attention on Sunday morning and is now doing well.
