For the winners Bowden, at full, was a host in himself, his line kicking, tackling, etc., being a treat. In the threequarter line all did their share. 4\. D’Ath was X'crhaps the pick. The two five-eighths, D’Ath and Guldens, were a hard pair, while Mclntyre at half was the shining light. In the pack the whole seven, Marino, Lateen, Harvey, Best, and others all ehone out, while M. Wildman, a sixteen etoner, (wing forward) proved a flue player, but was inclined to be rough.

the otaki club.

A meeting Of members of (lie Otaki Football Club was held in the Council Chambers on Saturday evening, Mr U. .Williams presiding. After congratulating both the Otaki and Faraparaumu teams on the day’s play, which ho said was only marred by a refereo being ig aorant of the rules—although impartial to both sides—he said the question *• be decided was whether it was desirable to enter a senior or junior team for the championship. Personally, he did not think it advisable to enter for penior honors —the Club might win a match or two, but if it lost members would lose heart, but, on the other hand, if the Club' entered for the junior competition there would be play worth witnessing, and he had no doubt hut that the Club would do well. Messrs W. Baker and Puku Rikihana favored a senior team, but Messrs Tahiwi brothers and others differed, and on a show of hands it was decided, by an overwhelming majority, to enter for the junior competition. It was pointed out that the Levin and Hui Mai Clubs would be strengthened by jthe inclusion of leading players from Uuku and Shannon. . A letter was read from the HorewheE na Union stating that all members #f Clubs had to be financial by the end of May otherwise matches would be against them. Received. The question of insurance was raised, and it was pointed out that the Union had sadly lacked its duty for not paying out to injured members of the Club, in fact payment to one member was two years' overdue, despite the fact that the matter had frequently peon brought under the notice of the Union. —It was decided to again make application. It was decided that players meet on Wednesday for “gym” practice. ' donation qf £1 Is vfaa acknowledged with thanks from Mr A. Satherley, phe of the Club's vice-presidents. M" William* stated his intention of Civteg two gold medals, one for the best back, the other for the best forward, te -be awarded as players desired.
