The report that was circulated on Saturday to t,hc effect that Mr and Mrs Clinton Jones’ tliree-vear-old son had been lost, probably drowned, at l’arapt, rnumu fortunately proved incorrect. The little fellow was found within an hour after being missed, fast asleep, near a spot where he had been left.
There was a large congregation in All Saints’ Anglican Church yesterday evening at the Memorial Service to commemorate our heroic dead. The Church was decorated with sprays of rosemary (for remembrance) and poppies (from France), and along with rosemary bedecked the honours board. Special hymns and psalms, in keeping with the occasion, were sung, and an appropriate address delivered by the vicar (the liev. G. i\ Petrie, AI.A.). Prayers on behalf of our Empire and the bereaved relatives were offered up, and at the close of the service the ‘•'Dead March” was played by the vicar. Airs Petrie presided at the organ.
Auction sales of meal, etc., will be held at the auction mart on Wednesday and Thursday. The annual meeting of the Otaki (luh Club will be held on Wednesday night. The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild will be held on Wednesday afternoon. AH Lowry jus holding a stocktaking sale, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday bargains will be the order of Ihe day.
