HECTOR TRACK
A meeting of the Mount Hector Club was held at Greytown on Friday last. Messrs W. MeGregoi and Brooks, a sub-committee, reported having chosen a site, for the Waiohine hut, and also submitted a plan for the building. —It was decided to enlarge the duties oi the committee, and ask it to get more details aa to cost of erection, etc., and to report in a fortnight's time. Mr Bassett handed in a report oi work done on the track, and which was approved, and he and Mr Saver were thanked lor the assistance rendered. It was decided to hold a working bee next spring and clear the undergrowth along the route to Mount Alpha. Mr Loaaby gratuitously has promised sucks to cover the netting in the bunk:in the Tauherenikau and Alpha huts. It was reported that a quantity of tinned goods, candles, tea. and sugar. are now in these huts a? emergency rations. It is hoped that fourist» will always leave a quantity in the huts for others who get weather-bound. Mr F. Wall has agreed to allow the committee to expend his donation in building a new hut at Waiohine. It was decided to procure 20 stretchers from the Defence Department for erection in the Waiohine hut. Messrs A. D.McLeod and W. H. Field. M's P.. have both helped consid erably in getting the Government to re-instate the vote for work on this enjoyable tramp.
