) POWER BOARD'S ADVICE TO OTAKI. information as to Otaki's' position I jn regard to the reticulation for tlie hydro-electric power in view of the expense already incurred in the local scheme was requested by Mr A. A. ( Brown at a meeting of the Horowlienua Hydro-Electric Power Board at its meeting on Wednesday. Mr Brown said Otaki had its own engineer and proposed going on with f the reticulation of the town on its . own account. What he wanted to know was whether this reticulation was to bo done all over the district or could it be divided into parcels, ; The chairman (Mr Monk) said that if Otaki went on with the reticulation on its own account and linked up • with the Board later that body would ■ have to accept any liability. Were i tlie Board prepared to do that? Other- < wise the Board would have to sell ' power to Otaki to be resold. It did - not appear to him to be feasible to do that, though Hie Board would cer- . tainly have to sell a local 'body power j , for street lighting and such things. ! Mr ICilsbv said Otaki had already ( ! paid £2BO to the engineer. ■ i ‘And what about the matter of 1 ' voltage?” asked the chairman. Mr Brown replied that he: understood that could be fixed up with meters. * The chairman: “We must have uniformity through the district though.” : He thought it would he better to wait until the engineer was appointed to the Board and an expert opinion could be obtained. Mr Brown agreed with this. He Thought it advisable for the Board to advise Otaki not to be in too much j of a hurry, but to wait- until the engineer was appointed. In this the Board acquiesced, bio.
