OTAKI DAIRY COMPANY.
A RECORD SEASON. The Otaki Dairy- Company intends paying out lid per lb butterfat for the February supply, being an advance of lid over the previous month’s payment. The recent rains have freshened up the pastures and as a result the milk supplies are keeping up well. The season has proved a prolific one, and the output will be a record. The Company has been working up to the full capacity of its plant, and for the reason that it was unable to deal with larger quantities of milk or cream, had to refuse regular consignments from suppliers from different parts of the province. It is the intention, therefore, to increase the holding capacity of the factory. This 'work will be undertaken during the coming winter, and the additions will enable the eorspany to increase the output, next season. The latest advices from London stat-c that butter was realising from 140 s to 144 s per cwt., and information had been received by the Company that its butter brought from Is fid to 3s per cwt. mere than the consignments of other companies sent by the same bout. The Company has manufactured a large quantity of butter this season. whey cream being received from the Manawatu, Hawkes’ Bay, Wairarapa, and Taranaki. 1 The output so far is 100 tons, which is more than that of any other two manufacturing concerns put together. The whole of the Company’s manufacture goes to London, and owing to its excellence has brough up to within id of the best cream butter. Owing to the fall in the price of the latter article, however, there is not the same demand for whey butter just now.
