PANTOMIME IN OTAKI.
“OLD MOTHER HUEBARD.” Nothing on Such an elaborate scale has yet been attemiited in the country as the record-breaking pantomime, “Old Mother Hubbard,” fresh from an Auckland season of 22 consecutive performances. The Auckland dailies and weeklies speak highly of the production, so country theatre-goers are in for a special treat at the Otaki theatre on Monday March 20th. One strikingnovelty is the jazz scene, painted by one of the Sydney’s well-known artists from designs taken from a recent big London revue. The costumes Avorn in the production, of Avhich there are some hundreds, also call for special mention. The specialties by Mr Fred White, the talking \-iolinist, Arthur and Ruby Bertram, in their latest dance creations, Miss Laura MacLeod, in her beautiful Eastern dance, and Miss Ethel Osborn, the golden-voiced lyric soprano in gems from opera, are worth going a long way to see and hear. Miss Osborn, in particular is a real star. The part- of Old Mother Hubbard is in the capable Minds of Mr George Harpur, and he is ably backed up in his funny business by Mr Arthur Bertram, Miss Ruby Raymond, and Mr A. Meredith. Beautiful ballets and excellent choruses help the principal boy and girl in their numbers, and combine in making one of the brightest and best big companies that have ever visited Otaki. The box plan is at Lowry ’s, AA-here seats may be reserved without extra charge.
