OTAKI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING."' A special meeting of the above Coun cil -was held on Friday evening. Present: The Mayor and a full council. The meeting was called to consider the Towu Clerk's statement re the new Finance Act recently passed. The Town Clerk also reported that the street works had worked out cheaper than the estimated cost, and the Works Committee therefore asked for authority to give a tarred footpath to every house at the station end, also in Bell' and Kirk Streets and Waerenga Road. Authority was also sought to purchase a second-hand tar boiler and sprayer. The work was authorised subject to the overdraft not exceeding the limit. ~Cr. Ivilsbv. was authorised to inspect the tar-boiler, and if satisfactory purchase the -s*rue for the Council. Mr Reardon, electrical engineer, waited on the Council witli a view to drafting a scheme for lighting the Borough in anticipation of the Government supply. After a full discussion, Mr Reardon was instructed to give the Council an interim report with approximate costs within l-l days, when the matter will be further considered.
