The Fox comedian, Clyde Cook, who is starring in the much advertised comedy "Skirts," is an. Australian. He achieved fame on the stage before entering screen comedies. The latest film celebrity to visit Europe is Cecil de Mille. He is making a very extensive tour. It is said that Anita Stewart's hobby is buying homes and she owns quite a number. This is a trifle more expensive hobby than collecting stamps. Probably the land agents of New Zealand would like Miss Stewart to come over here. The latest matrimonial trouble in film circles, is that of Mr and Mrs Earle Williams. Mrs Williams is a daughter of a wealthy New York family a»d has recently had two fortunes left her. It is a wonder that Earle did not try to patch up the trouble. A correspondent writes to osk if "The Oath" is coming. This was recently seen in Wellington. We have interviewed the proprietor of the local theatre and he tells .us that it will be seen here the end of March or be-, ginning of April. This is a very unusual film by Raoul Walsh (brother of George) and featuring his wife, Miriam Cooper. Conway Tearle is also in the cast.
Conan Doyle's "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" is being filmed in serial form, only each episode is a complete story. It is a very good idea and makes a very interesting serial. Another Mack Sennett bathing girl to make good in drama is Marie Provost.
Martha Mansfield. Eugene O'Brien's leading lady in several films, has gone into vaudeville with Crane Wilbur. Mr Wilbur was in films over 10 years ago.
Snowy Baker is now in America mak ing films.
Dorothy Davenport, Mrs Wallace Beid, is returning to the screen, after tin absence of many years. Mrs Beid comes from a well-known theatrical family and is related to the famous Fanny Davenport. Wesley (Freckles) Barry, Marshall Neilan's juvenile star, Is making "Penrod," Booth Tarltington's famous book. Dorothy Gish has abandoned her black wig and is playing tragic roles again. She is playing the blind sister in "The Two Orphans," Lillian Gish being the other orphan. "The Two Orphans" is being made by D. W. GriiHth.
