OTAKI BRASS BAND.
To the Editor, sir,—With reforcnco to the annnol raeatiug of the Bund on Thursday eve»t«g last, 1 would like to o N , )rr .»s my views per medium of your paper with regard to the election of officer*. I was not present at the meeting, but much to my surprise 1 was elected president. I understand that Mr Hriindo* was; first proposed and seconded for the office of president, and (hat when my name was brought /orward for nomination Mr ifrandou withdrew, and consequently i. was elected. Now, Sir, to begin with I. absolutely have no desire for holding such a position, as ray proposer and seconder should have known that 1 am not the right mar there. Moreover, J. wae not. consulted about the matter, and our worthy Mayor is the only man whom I consider shozild hold such an office. Be it ucderstood that he is our leading citizen —a man who takes a keen interest in the sffairs of the band and a elenn --port who is second to none. Had I been there I certainly would have withdrawn in favour of Mr Brandon. X therefore appeal to the secretary to e<ill a special meeting at an early dare to reconsider the matter and re-elect a president.—l ana, etc., KXT>A HAWEA.
