SATURDAY’S CRICKET MATCH.

To the Editor. Sir, —In your issue of February 20th there appears a report of the Taiuui A v. Te Horo match played on February 18th. I take it that such report was contributed by a Taiuui supporter who I shows his own side of the matter and j makes - To Horo appear very unsportsmanlike for withdrawing when they did. The writer of the present letter has furnished you with several cricket reports lately and lias always given good play its due meed of praise, irrespective of the fact that such play has occassionally been the cause of a lose to our team. As your contributor's report is not at all fair I forward you a few facts which I trust you will see your way to give as much prominence to as you gave to the report on the match. (11. Time was called by the umpire and To Horo withdrew. Te Horo did not withdraw ml'"‘the.. - . - own volition. (2) Subsequently a timekeeper representing Taiuui A alleged that Te Horo had withdrawn two minutes too soon. (3) This timekeeper’s time was questioned by two Taiuui B players and he j was requested to accompany them to I the Post Office to verify same. He de- I murred, but finally consented when his J watch was found to be twenty minutes slow! (4) Thus, instead of withdrawing two minutes before time, Te Horo played eighteen minutes overtime. Thanking you for your space.—l am. etc., H. JONES, Hon. Sec. Te Horo C.G.
