Mrs IV. M. Clark, of Levin, was among the visitors to the Otaki beach yesterday, Mr Ronald Ross, of the Eketahur.a Post Office staff, has been transferred to Plimmerton. It is stated that Mr H. E. Combs, secretary of the P. and T. Officers’ Association and the Wellington Rugby Union, may contest a Wellington seat in the Labour interest at the general election.
Mr Hector Nicolson, manager of the “Otaki Mail,” has been compelled to take « course of medical treatment, after which lie will recuperate in the Wairarapa district. Mr G. Thomas, of the Levin Chronicle staff, will take charge of' the 1 ‘ Mail ’ ’ during Mr N i cols on’s absence.
The funeral of the late Mr G. IV. Smith, third son of Mr and Mrs W. Burns Smith, took place on Saturday afternoon, when a large and representative attendance paid their last mark of respect. The cortege included the senior classes of the Otaki School, and members of the School Committee and Bowling Club. Numerous floral tributes were received, and among them were wreaths from the stuff, pupils, committee and old scholars of Hie school. An impressive service was conducted at the graveside by the Revs. ICcall and Petrie.
