Stav.eley for exemption of a road at Otaki beach was upheld by the Borough Council last night, it being agreed that it was impossible to make a road in the vicinity mentioned. At last night's meeting of the Borough Council the Mayor took the opportunity of congratulating Cr. Kilsby on his election, unopposed, on the Hy-dro-electric Power Board. He said he felt sure Cr. Kilsby would fill the position with credit, and stated that already he had done yeoman service. Cr. Kilsby suitably replied, stating he > would do his best for Otaki and the County generally. The question of furnishing the Council chambers was discussed lasi night, and in view of frequent meeting? there it was decided to secure a number ofchairs. Cr. The matter of drainage was briefly discussed at last night's meeting of the Borough Council, and it was agreed that all residents, whether they had \ sceptic tanks or not, should be compelled to link up with the drainage sys- ' tern when installed. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for further consideration.
