THE LATE HOROWHENUA SHOW.

STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS. A meeting ol the committee of the Horovvhenua A. and P. Association was held on Saturday for the purpose of settling accounts, etc., in connection with the recent show. The president (Mr A. McEeavey) was in the ’ chair, and 17 members were present. .The chairman stated that the show ■ had passed. ,o£f most satisfactorily, for which thanks were specially due to ail .who had assisted with monetary donations and otherwise. He had pleasure in moving a comprehensive .vote of lhanks to the following who had assisted to make the show a success: i Mr W. J- Smellie (testing butterfat : competition), Mr C. I. Harkness (com- , pitting butterfat competition), Mana- ] ger. Central Development Farm, and Manager Boys’ Training Farm, lor the use ol paddocks for grazing and horse 1 and dray respectively; Mrs# yv. J. Bry- ] tint, Manakau. (sheep for dog trial); ] Mr C. 11. Martin (use of scales), Rae- i ing Club (use of saddle cloths), Mr E. ] G. McDonald (gift of bullock for guessing competition), Mr F. Davies ' (gilt of sheep for guessing competi- ' tion); also to all stewards and mem- : hers who worked so willingly to make the show a success. The Association, , the chairman slated, also appreciated the good and continued support shown , by exhibitors and the public gene- ( rally, and hoped this support Would , continue in the future. The motion was supported by Mr - G. 11. Kingdon, was carried. Ail accounts and prizes in connection with the show were passed for , payment, ; H was decided that the stewards oi ' the various sections who assisted at ~ the show be invited to attend the next . committee meeting to give them the opportunity of making., any sugges- J tions or passing on any information ■ they had become possessed of that would be of benefit to the show. Mr G. Sievers, judge of the dairy • section, wrote hi reply to the Associa- I tion’s letter of thanks for his services, " stating that if his decisions were "accepted by exhibitors as being fair he 1 would consider himself well paid fortune and trouble. The show had been : very enjoyable, and he wished the As- ! sociation success. SECRETARY’S STATEMENT. The. secretary (Mr Wallace) presented a statement of accounts in connec- ; tion with the late show, explaining ; that the Association’s financial year ■ would not end till May 31, and that - the figures he was presenting were only approximate. The total receipts, including the balance from previous year, £ll3 7/7, amounted to £996 14/7, against which there was prize money of £405, expenditure on grounds,. competitions’ ring, and other general ex-' pences to December 31, 1921, £199 14/5, general expenditure oh show (cartage, insurance, luncheon, band, advertising, etc.) £172, and other sundry accounts, and some still to come in.
