MEETING OF .us&OCIATiON; A meeting oi the executive of she norowhenua County Patriotic Association was ueid ou Thursday even.ug, when there were present: Messrs i*. W. Goiclsmith (chan), G. P. Catiey, F. Plaster, C. S. Keedweii aud ivirs T. F. Gibson. The Auckland War Relief Association wrote acknowledging a clieque of £25 from the Horo when ua Association as a grant for an ex-Horo-wiienua soldier now in business in i.ie north. The soldier found that ins business, was now going hack, Mid had returned tile clieque to tne ! vvar Relief Association, as he conoidered it "useless to put any iurther uiorrey mto the business. The Association, however, stated that the soluier was in need .of assistance and mquired if the cheque could be used to assist him outside his business alairs. it was decided to advance £5. A soldier from this district wrote Mating he was in hospital in the main Trunk district, and asked if the association could assist his yyife and svo children. A grant of £2 per week was made, it- was decided to grant a disabled oldier £6 17/6 to pay his board acuunt. Ait application was received from u district soldier for a grant of £ls o pay his wife’s medical expenses. —Held over for inquiry. A payment of £2O, interest on a loan, was received from a soldier settler.
