Mrs C. McGill f Wellington) is among the visitors to Otaki.
Mr M. J. Suhan, late of Levin, is at [resent on holiday in the South Island.
Mr W. H. Field, M.P., was among the visitors to the Levin show yesterday.
Constable Straffon, late of Otaki, is at present holiday-making in Wellington.
Mrs H. Bright, who has been visiting relatives at Dunedin, returned home last night. Mr and Mrs A. Wilson, who have been holiday-making in Tatiranga, returned to Otaki yesterday. It is pleasing to record that Mrs Ball, of Levin, who has been in indifferent health for some time, is making a good recovery. Mr W. H. Bennett, erstwhile of Otaki. has sold his Hastings property, and with Mrs Bennett is spending a holiday at Porirua. Mr and Mrs C. T. Bussell, erstwhile residents of Otaki and now or Hastings, yesterday passed through to Wellington on holiday. We regret to record the death of the only child of Mr and Mrs Dug. Howell) of Paraparaumu, who died in the Otaki Hospital this morning, aged ten months. In the list names of those who passed the matriculation examination i£ that of Miss Bita Maclean, daughter of Mr M. Maclean, of Paraparanuru.
Mr Harold Cundy, late of Hautere, was among tbe visitors to Otaki on Wednesday. It is reported that ho has sold his To Horo property.
Mrs Harold Tutberry, of Featherston, sister to Mrs Robert. Bcvan, of Manakau, has been ill in a private hospital in Wellington and recently underwent a very serious operation. She is now reported to be making good progress.
Among tbe judges at the Horowhenua. A. and P. Society’s Show was Mr H. E. B. Watson, of Christchurch, official demonstrator appointed by the N.Z. Jersey Breeders’ Association. During the second day he gave an interesting lecture and answered many questions.
Mr and Mrs Mason, the latter a. daughter of Mr and Mrs J. P. Brandon, left for their home at Blenheim this morning, after an enjoyable holiday spent at Otaki.
Huia, the 13-year-old daughter of Mr T. Roach, jun., and grand child of Mr and Mrs T. Roach, of Otaki, died at the Palmerston N. hospital on Wednesday. Deceased was for a time an inmate of the Otaki hospital, but about three weeks ago went to Palmerston for treatment.
Mr and Mrs A. Walshaw, who expect to take over .the Mauakau Hotel almost immediately, have arrived at Manakau. Mr and Mrs Walshaw. who are well and favorably know, have had much
experience in the Thames, Wellington, and Bush districts, and should prove popular residents. The intentions of Mr Aitken, the present licensee, are at present uncertain.
