MEAT BY-PRODUCTS.
ft- f MORE EXPEDITIOUS MARKETING ! .WANTED. ! Speaking at the producers'' meeting in Kevin yesterday, Mr O. P. Lynch, of Paraparaumu, stated there was a ‘ pressing necessity for better and more expeditious marketing of New Zealand by-products, such as canned meats. 1 He said there were immense quanti- 1 ties,/ of our by-products of this class lying in England awaiting a market ' there. Why not try other markets? tie 1 asked. If shipments were sent to In- ' -i dia,, he believed they would sell like hot cakes, but before they could get ; 'to India under present conditions they would have to pass through half a 1 dozen different hands, and when they i ; reached their destination would he j j almost prohibitive in price. There 1 were a hundred other things in which :; the New Zealand producer was being j 1 exploited in the same way. He had ; 1 heard that Italy wouic( prove a good / 1 market for New Zealand lamb. It was f J a point that might be looked into. [ J Later in the meeting, Mr W. H. 1 1 Field, M.P., touched on the point j 1 raised by Mr Lynch .with reference to 1 canned meats, and said it would be 1 one of the things that would be look- * ed into as a result of the meat pool proposal. 1
