PARAPARAUMU SPORTS.
SPLENDID MEETING ASSURED. We have pleasure in stating that the prospects for the Paraparaumu sports meeting, to be held on Nev •year's Day, are particularly cheering, , and everything points to a record meeting. The entries have come m splendidly, showing the keen interest taken in the gathering by athletes. For the lOOyc-s event 2(5 entries have been received; 220yds, 27; 440vds, 2o: SSOvds. 23; mile run, 22; 120yds hurdles in; mile walk. 9. The competitors hail from all parts of the district, .and include athletes from Wellington and as far distant as Dannevirkc. With such a fine lot of entries, all who attend the meeting eon depend on see ing some first-class sport. Sir W. H. Field. M.P.. has kindly consented to attend the meeting, and formally open the gathering. It has been decided to present the trophies won at the conclusion of the gathering, on the sports ground, in stead of in the evening as at first arranged. All the arrangements for the sportare now well in hand, and we may safely anticipate a large gathering and good sport for New Tear s Day. The Paraparaumu Sports Club has decided to hold a children’s sport carnival early in February.
