LEVIN THEFT.
The sequel to the. arrest of the runaway making his escape from Let in . by train early last Thursday morning, took jplace in the Police Court. Levin, ' on Wednesday, when Henry Royden ■Ware, alias J. Davies, was charged with the theft ot' money and personal property valued at £3O, belonging to j. T. Martin, relieving postmaster. Evidence was given that Mr and accused were staying in the adjoining rooms at the Grand Hotel, At, I p.m. on Thursday accused entered Mat tin’s room and stole the property mentioned. Constable Hagrie stated that when informed of the theft he learned that accused had left on the goods train. They got, a motor and overtook tiic train at Te Horn, and found accused in the guard’s van asleep. When searched the proper’y was found on him. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to tlie Supreme Court for sentence. On a tecond charge of a similar nature the accused was remanded to Hastings on 23th inst.
