OBITUARY.

MB B. K. GARDENER. Mr B. R. Gardener died at his home. Levin, early this morning. Mr Gar.lener was seized with a serious illness some weeks ago. After a time he rallied, but recently suffered a relapse. Through the death of Mr Gardener Levin has been robbed of one of her foremost citizens, who has been closely associated with the progress of the town for a great many years. Deceased wont to reside at Levin nearly thirty years ago, when Levin was a rough bush settlement, with oue store (Mr Gardener's) and u couple of sawmills. When Levin was made a borough, Mr Gardener was elected Mayor of the town, a position he hold for six or seven years in succession, working untiringly in the interests of the town. I'nr some years he held office as town clerk, ami! his death. Air Gardener was a most, genial mini, who had uosrts of friend-. He was also a man of great energy, who never spared himself in the service of the. public, and much of Levin 's present prosperity was due to his untiling efforts. He was a pro-

Deceased was 07 years of age, lie leaves a wife, one sou and one daughter. Air _Gurdeuer's death will bo universally regretted. The funeral takes place at Leviu at" J p.m. ou Sunday next. CARL ADOLPHUa SWENiiSON. The death occurred at about noon 10-day of Carl Adolphus .Swousson, inly sun of Air Adolphus Swcnsson, of Waerenga road. The deceased, a bright, promising lad of seven and ahalf years, enjoyed good health generally, but recently he bad an attack ot mumps and measles, after whi'-li he developed a sorl of creeping paralysis.
