FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA.
A I EBRinc STORM. ] ' Sydney, December jo, , The storm continues with inarca-sed fury, the centre of the. cyclonic disturbance being nearer Sydney. All ferry traffic crossing the entrance to the Heads was stopped at C. 30 o'clock, as the sea was raging worse than *ver. The storm, with highly irangeroua seas, extends from Newcastle to iiornya. The- -rainfall for Sydney to date is the highest recorded for December for sixty-two years. All train iraffic is delayed, and in many cases the trolly poles of trami were blown off the overhead wires. Heavy damage to the crops is reported from the country. The gale at its height struck Newcastle this morning, the wind reaching a velocity of eighty miles an hour. Over- sixty families were resetted, in the low-lying district? by police boats. Shipping in the harbour experienced a perilous 'i'ne, almost every vessel breaking its moorings and drifting til! tugs made, them fast. It is expected that the gale all along the coast -sriil subside- to-night-
